Gluten free, it is a word that many hear or see but what exactly is it?
We see it on food packages, we see it listed on restaurant menus, and you hear more people asking if this is “gluten free?”
Is it healthier?
Meet our guest
Our guest, registered dietitian, Payton Vest, shares her own long complicated journey in finding more about her diagnosis of celiac disease.
During college, Payton had many GI symptoms and went through a bunch of tests to find answers to feel better.
Celiac disease is a chronic immune disorder triggered by gluten ingestion. It results in damage of intestinal lining and causes diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss, bloating and anemia.
Diet is an effective treatment for this disease.
In this episode, you will learn:
- What is gluten?
- Celiac disease vs gluten intolerance
- Who needs to go on a gluten free diet?
