Is there one food that must be in the diet every day? Is there a supplement that I can take that will provide antioxidants to help my immune system?
These are questions I hear often, and yes, there are many foods that step up your nutrition in your diet.
There is a food combination that can pack in a ton of nutrients without having to rely on pricey supplements. Supplements vary in variety and rate of absorption from person to person. Food is the most absorbable form of nutrients we can obtain every day.
This ONE food combo can provide huge benefits for you even if you have it a couple times each week.
And that my friend is a simple smoothie!
To keep it very simple, I have made a little chart to help you decide what you want to put in your smoothie.
Two things to focus on for smoothies: 1) COLORS 2) FIBER
Smoothies are a great way to get a boost of fruits and vegetables, plus add your favorite fiber supplement: chia seeds, flaxseeds, hempseeds, oats, or other supplements.
I like to add at least two different colors: green (spinach) + red (berries), white (chopped cauliflower) + yellow (pineapple) – feel free to add more colors.
For a little extra sweetness feel free to add a banana, dates, one tablespoon of agave, honey or maple syrup to your smoothie. Other options: 1/2 teaspoon of stevia or monk fruit sweetener.
This super smoothie can provide a bunch of nutrients on-the-go and set you up for the day.
Find your favorite combo and enjoy!
- 1 cup liquid (your choice of milk, or water)
- 1 cup frozen fruit
- 2 handfuls of greens
- 1 tbsp. chia seeds
- 1 banana or date for extra sweetness
- In a high-power blender, add all the ingredients and blend until smooth. Feel free to add any other extras to your smoothie.
