Summer is the best time enjoy the weather with a refreshing drink. I am in LOVE with this Strawberry Kombucha Mojito.

First off, if you’re like me, you might not be entirely sure what a mojito is. A mojito is a refreshing cocktail that originated in Cuba, typically made with white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water, and mint.

It’s known for its bright, tangy flavor and cooling minty notes, making it a perfect drink for warm weather.

Here is my version of a non-alcoholic mojito adding in gut-friendly kombucha and sweet strawberries with a wonderful mixture of lime and mint. They are a great drink to serve to guests or just enjoy a nice summer’s day.

Making a summer kombucha mojito is a delightful way to enjoy a refreshing, healthful twist on a classic cocktail.

What is Kombucha and Its Benefits?

Kombucha is a fermented tea beverage that has gained popularity for its refreshing taste and potential health benefits. Made by fermenting sweetened tea with a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY), kombucha undergoes a fermentation process that produces probiotics, organic acids, and antioxidants.

Benefits of Kombucha:

  1. Probiotics: The fermentation process creates probiotics, beneficial bacteria that support gut health and digestion. Regular consumption of probiotics can improve the balance of gut microbiota, aiding in digestion and enhancing the immune system.
  2. Improved Digestion: The natural probiotics and enzymes in kombucha can help break down food and improve nutrient absorption, leading to better digestive health.
  3. Boosted Immune System: The probiotics and antioxidants in kombucha can enhance the immune system, helping the body fight off infections and maintain overall health.
  4. Antioxidant Properties: Kombucha is rich in antioxidants, which help combat oxidative stress and reduce inflammation, contributing to overall well-being and potentially reducing the risk of chronic diseases.
  5. Energy Boost: The small amount of caffeine and B vitamins produced during fermentation can provide a natural energy boost, making kombucha a great alternative to sugary or caffeinated drinks.

Overall, kombucha is a versatile and healthful beverage that can support digestion, detoxification, and overall wellness. Its tangy, effervescent taste makes it a delicious and beneficial addition to your diet.

I decided to go with a strawberry kombucha to tie in with the fresh strawberries. Here is a link to the Health-Ade Strawberry Glow Kombucha I used in this recipes

Benefits of Strawberries

Strawberries are not only delicious but also packed with health benefits. They are rich in vitamins C and K, which support immune function and bone health, respectively.

Strawberries are also loaded with antioxidants like anthocyanins, which help reduce inflammation and protect against chronic diseases. Additionally, their high fiber content promotes digestive health and helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Benefits of Mint

Yes, that is right, this beautiful green is rich in antioxidants and other vitamins.

Because of the pretty green color, mint is a good source of vitamin A, an important nutrient for eye health and night vision (1).

Mint is also a wonderful source of antioxidants to help protect your cells from damage caused by free radicals (2).

Other beneficial nutrients include fiber, iron, manganese, and folate. The quantity of mint in recipes is often small amounts, so consuming 1/3 cup may difficult, but it is possible to obtain in salad and other recipes.

How to Make It

Start by muddling fresh mint leaves, lime wedges, and a teaspoon of sugar in a glass to release the mint’s aroma and the lime’s juice. Add chopped strawberries and ice and top it off with your favorite kombucha.

Stir gently to combine the flavors, and garnish with a sprig of mint and a lime slice. This kombucha mojito offers a tangy, fizzy alternative that’s perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day.
